Blog

We have started this blog to invite suggestions, ideas, and comments about the various worship services at RCLPC. We recognize that not everyone is able (or willing!) to attend a planning meeting. Therefore, each week we will post here the theme and the scripture passage for the week currently being planned (usually 6 or 7 weeks ahead of the actual Sunday), and you are invited to leave your ideas in the comments.

Thanks!

  1. It is not at all clear from the welcome page of the blog how to leave a comment. I would suggest that the introduction make it clear where to “click” in order to begin. Having said that, allow me to express my great appreciation for this morning’s worship service. The sermon was, of course, moving, challenging and inspiring… but the tenor section of the choir was the best part. (I sincerely hope that future bloggers will have more enlightening comments than this to make, but you have to start somewhere.) That guy who plays the guitar is pretty awesome, too. Is he the successor to Gerry Garcia?

  2. I whole-heartedly agree with Fred with the exception of his assessment of the tenors being the best part of the choir. The choir does and excellent job of blending their voices and talents (including the very talented instrumentalists and soloist)and to my mind no one sections stands out == which is as it should be. We are very grateful the wonderful variety of music and the way the pastoral team and the choir director work together to provide such wonderful worship experiences. In I am constantly made aware of congregations and ministers who are not working together in a gracious and harmonious manner. I feel blessed to be able to attend RCLPC and worship in an environment where a lot of good work goes into coordinating the worship. Todays was just another example of excellence. Keep up the good work Richard, Teri and Sherri.

P.S. My wife thinks that there is one unit of moral weakness in the choir = the tenor section!! LOL

  3. I know I mentioned it to Richard on the way out, but I thought the message last Sunday (3/11) was exceptional. Without getting into politics, I think the message helped us focus on the difficulty of thinking and acting out of fear and our baser instincts, rather than moving together as a supportive community that embraces the stranger and makes that person friend. Yes, there are times when we have to be ware of danger and be cautious — prepare ourselves for the ice, but in our caution we can move against love and against community. Thank you again Richard and let’s keep on loving our enemy and praying for those who persecute us. Who know’s they might become our friends!

  4. Looking forward the the special service to introduce the Week of Prayer and Witness with Christians in the Middle East. There are a couple of hymns I would sugest for May 6. It would be very appropriate to sing “As a Fire Meant for Burning” which we sang earlier this year. also the “Lament for Peace and Justice” which is available on the PC(USA) website for this special time. I also like “O For a World” and “Live into Hope” which are suggesteed in the “Resurection Hope” booklet. Thank you, Terri, for leading us in this improtant special worship. Sheri, I hope you can find some good choral music to fit the theme. (You always seem to do that!) Would love to sing “I am the Church” in Arabic and English!
Hope you all find the three adult ed classes April 15, 22, and 29 stimulating and inspirational!
    Blessings,
    Alice Haznedl
